Robert Bryan — Textiles
Robert Bryan is a textile developer for Nike. Before that, he was fabric research and developer for Abercrombie&Fitch. He’s managed fabrics and trims for Target and Oshkosh B’Gosh. He has a bachelors in Textiles plus Art and Design from North Carolina State University.
While at Target, he wrote and taught a popular Textiles 101 class for the company that he taught to everyone from “CEOs to sales associates,” he says.
In Textiles, you’ll learn to recognize fabric types as you are given swatches of fabrics to examine and test. You’ll learn which fabrics to use, when, where and how. Robert will tell how fabrics are made and how they were created from the originals like wool, silk and hemp to the high-tech fabrics of today. You will learn where to find fabric sources beyond the local fabric store.
After taking this class, you can move on to making your own fabrics through Silk Painting + and making your own prints through Computer Print Design.
