Have you never sewn on a machine? Do you want to learn more? Then this is the class for you.
In 10 easy lessons, you will learn to sew in this very first level of beginning sewing. Become friends with a machine, learn basic stitches fearlessly, then go on to make clothes and gifts for yourself or your friends and family!
Step 1 – Meet your machine:
Get to know your sewing machine. Learn all the parts, how to thread it, make a bobbin and solve problems. Find out what thread and needles to use while making a stuffie (stuffed animal).
Step 2 – Pillowcase:
Sew straight lines, ties and corners while making the perfect, easy-care pillowcase for sleepovers or gifts. Bring an extra square of fabric and make a hobo bag. Prerequisite: Step 1.
Step 3 – Messenger bag:
Learn how to work with commercial patterns and how to lay out and cut fabric. Sew curves. Your bag will have a bottom with pockets inside and out. Use your bag for books or sewing classes. Prerequisite: Steps 1&2.
Step 4 – PJ pants:
Make fun seams and easy hems. Learn about elastic and more complicated layouts. Wear your pants on special days or just around the house. Prerequisite: Steps 1,2 & 3.
