Q. Hi Sharon! I was wondering if you had any tips on doing a wire hem. I’m in formal dress mode and can’t find much info on how to get the wire in the hem or what to use.
A. Here’s the method I use: Set up a serger with a three-thread rolled hem. Attach a pearl (aka beading) foot. Run your wire through the channel on the foot. Make sure you are “feeding the knife.” That means, giving the machine enough fabric on the right side of the foot to wrap around the wire. This works well on fishing line, ribbon and pearls-on-a-string as well. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
